Air Permit Modifications
When considering changes that will affect the emissions profile of your
permitted emission sources, it is important to evaluate the impact of
these changes on your permit. Certain changes require advance
notification of the regulatory authorities, while others should already
be incorporated into your operational flexibility plan. Some
changes will require a permit modification, which is essentially a new
application.
Our evaluation will:
- Verify that any new process is covered under the existing permit,
or recommend the most cost effective means to modify.
- Evaluate the potential for changing the level of the permit,
possibly avoiding unnecessary permit conditions and compliance
requirements.
- Provide for the most efficient new permit available under the
Environmental Conservation Law.
Example: A Draft Title V permit issued to one of our
clients included 30 Permit Conditions that were unnecessary and 7
that were misapplied or incomplete. Acceptance of the draft
permit would have required installation of Continuous Emissions
Monitoring equipment costing thousands of dollars, the performance
of daily audits and calibrations, and the submission of quarterly
emissions reports. Novus Engineering was successful in having
all the inappropriate permit conditions corrected or removed.
